Stretch to Tone Your Physique

As I recover (slowly) from an old injury that got irritated and as a result worsened, I thought this would be the perfect time to discuss the power of stretching. Today I am not going to discuss a pre-workout stretch or a post stretch. Instead I am going to go over the importance of stretching to tone your physique. Resistance bands (also referred to as elastic bands) have been forever marketed as a great workout tool. Granted they are a form of exercise by definition, but let's face it most people do not think of this as a great workout tool. Instead most people think of lifting weights when they think of working out. However, if you are either lifting something heavy or even slightly heavy repeatedly (using sets and reps) or just using resistance instead of weights you will still get a workout. Resistance bands do make a good low resistance workout if your goal is to either get toned or...

New Year, New You

Happy New Year! It's New Years Resolution time if you have not already done so. Each year we all make up a list of things we want to accomplish (goals) and for the most part we all fail to achieve those goals. Why is that? Did you take it one step further like you should and set up steps to meet each goal, did you forget to follow the plan, did you make excuses as to why you could not follow the plan? Let's make 2018 different from the rest. We will do this together. Here is the plan: make goals (fitness or otherwise) and write down the steps needed to achieve those goals. Next put a time frame as to when you must meet those goals by. Then move onto the next one. To keep you from failing to follow thru post the goals and steps on a large dry erase board or cork board or an easel. The point here...

The Importance of Family

In this post we will discuss the importance of family: Studies have found that those who live alone and shy away from other people are really missing out on life. This is not to say that they cannot go on and live a long time and have some fun, but traditionally those who have larger circles of friends and a close knit family tend to live even healthier, happier lives than those who don't. Why is this you may ask? The reason is quite simple really - we are meant to not live alone and to want to be around others. Being with friends allows for you to express yourself and get out and do more. Also with friends you have someone you discuss things with and get opinions that you know are honest and worth listening to. Family can be the same way as friends when it comes to helping work thru problems and providing that support system that you sometimes...

1 year anniversary of our blog!

Welcome to our 1 year anniversary of our blog!* It is hard for us to believe, but we checked and we have had this blog up for one year now - where does the time go? We thought we would bring this to your attention as a motivator; a motivator to set goals and take steps to accomplish them. Who knew that we could continue to come up with stuff to write about so easily? Now for the difficult part. What do we do now? We met our first year goal of launching a new store and blog, maintaining our store inventory and running a blog. Each month we made a point of blogging at least once, mostly twice a month to keep those who found us online interested and engaged in what we had to say. In our next post (not this one - sorry everyone for the teaser) we will cover something so very important. Our next posting will discuss Thanksgiving...

3 Day Workout

Today we will discuss the 3 day workout. This routine is great for anyone who doesn't seem to have the time to stay in shape. If you are always on the go this and the next posting are the workouts for you! How to do this routine: Pick any 3 days in a single week that you can squeeze in about a half hour of time. It doesn't matter if they are 3 days in a row or a day or two in-between workouts to get this done. Day 1: Biceps and Back Day 2: Legs Day 3: Triceps and Chest Advanced: Be sure to change up the order of exercises done on that days workout. Also change the number of sets, reps and amount of weight used after a few weeks of using this routine. Incorporate different exercises into your daily routines. Even more advanced: Change the muscle groups worked on specific days to this routine instead. Day 1:  Biceps and Triceps Day 2: Legs Day 3:  Chest and Back Remember: People stop working out...
